Frankly, we are tired of pulling up 100 different websites selling miniature and compact Cattleya hybrids only to find that they all are selling the exact same plants! While 40 years ago, the idea of brightly colored cattleya type flowers borne on small plants was novel and exciting, now there is a boring sameness that is threatening to cause hobbyists to loose interest in this wonderful group of orchids. It seems that most orchid hybridists these days are more concerned with duplicating an unwritten standard that they think will please the judges than working on the enormous untapped potential for new and spectacular forms and colors within the cattleya alliance. We are here to change that! Armed with a considerable amount of research and data on what will or will not be a paring with exceptional potential, we have been busy thinking ‘outside the box’ so that you will have new and delightful things to continually look forward to in the future.
