Rhychobrassoleya TLDC Divine Phoenix ‘Pterodactyl’ SM/WOC’21 (2.5” pot near blooming size)
Product Description
New! This spectacular new introduction may have a name that can barely fit on a plant tag but don’t let that stop you from acquiring something new and special. It is a cross between the large lavender standard size Rlc. Bryce Canyon and Brassavola appendiculata, also known as B. cucullata. The latter parent normally tones down the color to pastel shades when it adds its characteristic starry shape, but in this case the flowers are a very intense purple offset by some white and yellow in the throat. This orchid received the high honor of a Silver Medal at the 2021 World Orchid Conference, an event held once every three years. The narrow pseudobulbs and arching narrow foliage are flushed with purple, making a perfect foil for the vividly colored blooms and will be produced in summer or fall. It can grow in a pot with an open media that offers quick drainage, or especially if you have a more controlled growing environment, do splendidly in a basket or on a mount. The plants, while still in a small basket inside a 2.5” pot, are large enough that they could flower for the first time in 2025. Get one while you can!
