Cattlianthe Rojo x Myrmecophila tibicinis
Product Description
Here’s another unusual but spectacular orchid cross that we look forward to each spring. It was offered by H&R Nurseries in Hawaii a number of years ago, and we couldn’t resist trying a couple seedlings. As with many Myrmecophila (syn. Schomburgkia) hybrids, this one took a while to reach flowering size, and is certainly no miniature, standing about a foot tall. But we love the tall, straight spikes of evenly spaced, glowing coral-red and yellow flowers that last a very long time. So far, our efforts to use this hybrid as a parent have not resulted in a fertile pod, but we keep trying.
